Hi! I just ordered your book. I am working with two Norwegian Elkhounds, both have had a chance to find a deer and one tracked a bear that unfortunately was not killed. We are really excited to be working with our dogs this way. They are new to it so we have a lot of training to do but they seem to be naturals. 12 November 2008 10:13pm |

I am exited about getting some good information on training dogs to track wounded deer. I have a background in training Laborador Retrievers for hunting and UKC hunt tests. I have a Border Terrier pup (Sire and Dam from England) reserved with the intention of using it to help find wounded deer. I have no idea how this experiment will work out. I noticed a reference to "Nite Lite" on the web page. My Father has always been a racoon hunter and years ago he bought his carbide hunting lights from a gentleman who made and sold his lights from a shop at his house near Clarksville AR, 20 Miles from our home. His "company" name was Nite Lite. Small World. 8 March 2008 11:06pm |

My parents have been Dachshund breeders for nearly 5 decades. At their advanced age now (84) , they are calling it a day. I have been lucky enough to have two of their males which I have trained to blood trail deer. I am NOT a professional tracker, but rather a Dachshund lover that also hunts white tail deer. My #1 dog, Tex , is 12. He is an excellent tracker. My #2 dog , Mojo, is 2 1/2. He made his first solo tracks last winter. I know that I will be soon replacing Tex. I am looking for a breeder of tracking Dachshunds. If you decide to continue to raise tracking Dachshunds, I would apprectiate being kept abreast of any litters from which you might have a pup for sale. 12 August 2007 03:02pm |
