Billy (now eight years old)  was a very precocious puppy who has developed into one of our top trackers of wounded deer and bear. He is calm and focused on the scent line and is very easy to handle in all circumstances. This is a dog that is responsive and eager to please. Billy was not a natural retriever, but he learned readily to "fetch" from land and water. He is a versatile hunter, easy to train, and he can charm everybody with his personality. His conformation is very correct, and according to a German judge almost "ideal". His house manners are excellent.

It is as a stud dog that Billy has impressed us most. He has now sired a total of 14 litters out of 11 different bitches from all over the eastern half of the United States. These pups, in almost all cases, became excellent trackers. The great majority of these pups have Billy's calm temperament, excellent coat and strong working conformation even if their dams were less than ideal in these characteristics.
